Solihull schools event a great success!

Posted in: Education, Business, Other

Recently Proteus Software and Solihull Council worked in partnership to host a Business on the Move workshop for local students.  Aiming to inspire, educate, inform and enthuse young people about the logistics industry, feedback from participants confirmed that the day proved to be a great success.

Tim Whitehead, a teacher at Alderbrook School, explained:

“The day started with a number of talks from a variety of professionals about careers in business and more specifically logistics. This was very informative and the students got a real feel for life in a number of different career pathways.

The second half of the workshop was an ‘inter-school’ business competition which saw the students making some real business decisions about buying and selling of assets, delivery times, ways to make profits etc. It was a close competition against some tough opponents…. but they won.  They now have to attend the IMHX National Logistics conference in September to pick up their award.”

“It was a fantastic day, students learnt so much and the fact they left with the winning title was just incredible,” commented Shamin Khalid, a teaching colleague from Alderbrook School.

“Thanks for the Business on the Move event; the kids did really enjoy it!” said Wendy Fitzmaurice  of Hazel-Oak School.

Teacher, Eleanor Collett  of Arden School, echoed these remarks, “I just wanted to say a big thank you for letting our pupils attend yesterday. They really enjoyed themselves, especially Marshall who was the individual pupil who gained the most profit, a whopping £88,000! Fantastic!! “

Linda Rodway of Proteus Software expressed her delight at the way the event went, “The feedback from the schools is particularly pleasing, with some students commenting that a new field and choice of career has been opened up to them saying it was a good introduction to logistics and supply chains. I am sure that seeds have been planted in the minds of some budding logisticians.”
