The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Australia (CILTA) is spreading the word about Business on the Move.
Business on the Move (UK) has just won a Royal Bank of Scotland Inspiring Enterprise Award recognizing the value of the game as a practical teaching resource for inspiring youth enterprise and an interest in business. This is the third award Business on the Move (UK) has won in the past 15 months for innovation and entrepreneurship.
In the UK the game is continuing to gather support from major organisations including the UK Warehousing Association, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, DP World London Gateway, Road Haulage Association, GB Rail Freight and Chep as well as Tesco and Marks & Spencer.
Key to explaining the enthusiasm generated among the logistics and transport sector is that Business on the Move is much more than a successful board game. After playing the game students can learn about the businesses behind the 40+ corporate logos featured in the game through the use of specially created learning activities. The game becomes a ‘platform for learning’ about all types of businesses involved in the supply chain. One interesting recent development is the growing interest from sponsors in using the game as a training tool with, for instance, apprentices and graduate trainees and as part of an assessment centre process, especially as the game can be played at seven different levels.
An Australian version of Business on the Move is currently being planned including obtaining sponsorship support to enable up to 2,500 sets of the game to be donated to schools to coincide with the phasing-in of the new National Australian Curriculum where the subject Economics and Business will be taught to students in years 5-6-7-8 for the first time. Feedback from teachers is the game is valuable and practical to introduce the concept of learning about business using a collaborative and multi-level approach.
Sponsorship packages start at $4,000, which includes your organisation’s brand/name/logo as a ‘customer’ on the game board and sponsor acknowledgment on the Business on the Move web site.
