Up to four teams can each manage a different freight company and will need to deliver their orders from one side of the world to the other. Each team will need to do it as quickly and profitably as they can whilst caring for the environment at the same time. There will also be some problems along the way and opportunities to take advantage of but who will be crowned victorious?
Working in dollars, you’ll recognise many of the big names found on the board. You can have 1-2 players in each team and need a banker too!
Whether you want to play this with family or in the classroom, the fun and benefits are there for all. The winner will be whoever moves their goods the fastest to their customers around the world. But that’s not all. You could also be crowned winner if you make the most profit and have the most assets, which can be easily worked out using the straightforward balance sheet provided.

Four teams will each manage a competing freight company. The teams will need to deliver their orders from China to the UK as quickly, profitably and in the most environmentally-friendly way possible. There will also be opportunities and issues to overcome along the way – so who will handle them the best?
The companies you’ll deal with are largely based across the UK and you’ll work in sterling too. Each team can include 1-2 players and you’ll need the all-important banker too!
This game is suitable for classrooms, family and friends alike and the winner will be whoever succeeds in getting their products around the world the fastest!

Which option will be best for your organisation?
Choose the option below, (a), (b) or (c), which best matches your organisation’s role in supply chains. If it’s not listed, select (d) and describe in a few words the nature of your involvement in supply chains that you challenge us to incorporate into game play. We’ll get back to you with one or two ideas for you to consider!
Option (a)
If your business is, perhaps, a 3PL and/or has warehouses/storage depots, it could feature as a ‘Distribution Centre’ (or DC).
Two bespoke Order cards would be created so that your DC becomes an active part of game play.
Option (b)
In this option your organisation features as a multimodal freight business, run by one of the players complete with your branded ‘Company Base’ similar to the one shown here.
This approach would suit a logistics businesses with their own transport, especially if their branding includes some dark blue, green, white or yellow.
Option (c)
Your organisation may buys in materials, components, stock to sell, spare parts and/or office supplies.
In this option your company’s logo would take up the ‘Development Opportunity’ on the Global game board with associated Order cards also created.
Option (d)
It may well be that none of the three options above quite fits your business. Providing you are happy to order at least 24 games, a fourth option is to create a new and bespoke impact on game play with your organisation at the heart of it.

Whichever option you decide on ~ and especially the more games you order ~ it is feasible that the unit cost can compare favourably with the standard price of £35 for a single game.
Please note, however, that any order for options (a) – (c) must be for at least 12 games, whilst option (d) does require a minimum of 24 games to be ordered.

The final option is make your organisation the focus for a completely bespoke board, customised to feature many of your business partners.
This ‘MAXI’ option provides the ultimate customised edition of Business on the Move, ideal for internal training programmes and sustained engagement with local schools.
The minimum order for a fully customised game is for 50 games.
This ‘MAXI’ option does cost significantly more and includes:-
Attracting local sponsors to showcase their logos in a fully customised edition could require contributions of just a few hundred pounds each to share and cover production costs.
These contributions, of course, could be reduced if you have a lead sponsor such as a major supply chain business, a Local Enterprise Partnership or a university.
If a small charge were to be made for the games, the project could even generate a profit!
